Have Olympus D-400Z... want to upgrade... help!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

About a year ago, I bought an Olympus D-400Z. I'm pleased with its motorized zoom, and in general, its daytime photo quality is acceptable. However, I'm sorely disappointed with its low-light photo capabilities.

I'd like to trade this camera for one that takes great low-light photos. So my question is twofold:

1) What camera do you recommend for this purpose?

2) Other than hocking my D-400Z on eBay and buying the other camera brand-new, do you know of any way I can make this switch?

Thanks in advance!

I just ordered the oly 450z and I am anxiosly awaiting its arrival - so I can't give you first-hand knowledge. However, from the reviews I have read, the 450 has very good low light capabilities. I would think that its controls are very similar to the 400 so you wouldn't even have to learn a new camera. I got a great deal on the 450 ($350.00) through an expired promotion at valueamerica.com. Keep an eye out there, they might have something else in the works.

The 450z takes great low light photos thanks to the new ISO settings. The higher ISO settings do make the pictures a bit 'grainier' but so does higher ISO film so its to be expected.
