voltage of resistance welder and location of probes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I have been told for ni-cad and other batteries use a resistance welder.the welder that i have seen doing this job was had to of the spot probes vertical at a 12%angle so the weld is beside each other. on the top of the batterie. trying to find info on these units in the city i live is not so good. i have talked to the miller rep and he sayed the potable unit with a timer can have the leads both side by side. it is a 1.6 volt unit air cooled. the time can be set between 1 to 5 seconds .still wondering before i run out and by the wrong thing will this work or just be to much power and blow the batterie.also some one sujested un-tec out of cal,USA cannot even find that company . thanks les

les, the company is Unitek in Monrovia, Cal.... They have the welder you need. My company manufactures electrodes. So when you get your welder, let us send you a catalogue.
