Even the simplest sound of diesel rumbling and steam chuff....is it possible with an MRC 2000 or must I upgrade?

SoundTrax decoders will operate on short address and can be set for an auto-chuf mode. The only real problem is that you would [probably] have to program them on another system. The MRC system uses the register mode almost exclusivly (I belive from others descriptions). Once you got your sound equiped motive power programmed - you can have them run on the MRC OK. You'll propably want to upgrade to use the many other features available anyway soon as you can.
