Ever hear of ZYCE HLC Titanium Lenses?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Yes, it is ZYCE not Zeiss.

It is a .42x AF Super Wide Macro closeup lens (attaches to end of my zoom lens).

Also, how much would a comparable lens from a known manufacturer cost.

Thank you.

Does it look anything like this? http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/images/titanium.jpg

I have this one and am planning to sell it since I've aquired a real fisheye lens. They are neat to play with but won't give you as good results as a real wide angle or fisheye lens (edges tend to have colour fringing and aren't too sharp).

See this page where I show some photos taken with a similar Deitz 0.42x adapter: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/deitz.html

I believe that Adorama sells a 0.42x adapter for about $40 or $50. There are also smaller ones that only work on camcorders.

I don't know of any camera manufacturers that make such adapters. Though Kenko has several though they all appear to be for camcorders.

Yes, thank you very much - that is it.

I ran around today looking at the various electronics stores around NYC and found the same type of lens in at least three different boxes (Bowmar, Goldline, noname) for a variety of prices. The MSRP on one I looked at today was $699.99.

If adorama sells it at $50 then I have to go back and have little talk with the person who sold it to me.

Well, I guess I'll go contribute to the bad stores section of the bulletin-board now.

Glad to help Eric. I'm sorry if you got tricked into overpaying for the adapter. They are neat if you don't pay too much.

I saw a titanium 0.42 lense in NYC for $184, these lenses are in two parts and can be separated for macro shots. How does this price sound?

There are hundreds for sale on ebay, search by your camera model #. they go for about 45.00$ plus shipping. I have one, its well worth 45$.
