I'm doing a research paper on digital cameras, and I need some basic information. This includes who invented the digital camera, how does it work (converting a picture to an image), and any other really basic info about the digital camera.

You may not find a simple answer to 'who invented', more likely either a scientific or military project (spy sattelites), or just a faceless corporation. I think it kind of grew out of TV, video camera, still picture transmission (newspaper wire services, sattelites again) and so on.
