Another recording that needs to be checked

Back a while ago I scored over 8M on Trog, I scabbed some points on the way a few thousand here and there, not that much though but I prolonged my game over the course of the 8M I achieved. The inp file uncompressed was only 1,701,248 bytes long. My problem is this, DJ KIX uploaded a recording of over 34M points and his file size is just over 2M bytes???? I'm sorry, but there is no way someone can finish the game (when I was almost there myself) and beat my score by more then 4x and have a file size just a tiny bit larger then mine in which I scored just over 8M pts. For some reason I cannot view the recording because I'm constantly getting a error "cannot initialize machine emulation" so I can't see it for myself. Can someone watch the inp in it's entirety and let me know if he cont. and what super tricks he did to get such a enormous score. When I got my 22M in the arcade way before I knew about TG, I used cont. to finish the game and no matter how much I could of scabbed on pts. it wouldn't of even totaled 500k. If this inp is 100% legit, then I stand corrected and while give honorable mention to him and pass it on to Walter Day to make note of it in his next book of world records. If anyone knows why I'm getting that error when running the inp, please let me know. I think it has something to do with not enough memory or something because I get it when viewing magical Drop puzzle mode recordings.

I'll have a look at it, but if I remember Trog correctly from the arcade, you get ~scads~ of points for finishing (1942, anyone? :). And in one of the cheapest moves ever in an arcade game, if you put in another credit you can launch your score into the stratosphere (higher than whatever he got, so I'm sure it wasn't that). Really, really poor judgement call on what was otherwise a neat game to play.

I tried my hand at it again, but I'm no good. :) Even using the warps I doubt I'd make it to the end anytime soon. I'll see what tactics he used, though.

Cheers,

I've played back the recording in full and it appears to be ok. The player only dies twice (I think) in the game and therefore managed to warp almost everytime collecting the 300,000 warp bonus. He collected the pineapple a lot and got huge 80,000 bonuses from eating trogs. At the end of wave 49 he had 9.354 million and when the game ended he was awarded a 25 special Million bonus for getting to the end on one credit. I couldn't check the inp for pausing and rerecording cheats etc but it looks like a great recording to me. I won't confirm the recording until you guys are satsified though.

Cheers!
