Help with Spatial Frequency Response testing for WinNT/95

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi everyone,

My team at work is looking into doing some Spatial Frequency Response studies on digital camera output to test resolution, image quality, etc. We want to use a camera to take a photograph, and run the image through an analysis program to get concrete data on the image to use for comparisons. We are on the MS WinNT 4.0/Win95 development platforms and so far I have identified three applications that could help (info found at www.pima.net) but we are having trouble getting everything we need to use them on our platform.

1. an SFR measurement plug in for Photoshop (it is for the Mac platform only - we don't have them). 2. source C code on the PIMA site but the header files are missing. 3. an application for Matlab 5.2/5.3 - the problem is finding Matlab 5.2/5.3 here for WinNT/95. This looks like a really good option right now, but we are trying to find the Matlab tool.

I guess my question is, does anyone know of *other* SFR options? I tried a web search, but didn't get very far. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. PIMA has been very helpful so far, we are just trying to see if there is anything else we could use.

Thank you for any assistance, Matthew J. Mattson

I'm sure you could construct something in some other mathematics program to do the same thing, but the stuff developed by the standards committee is really the best suited. I *think* that the guy who wrote the C code was Andrew Juenger of Polaroid. You could try getting ahold of him through Polaroid, he might be able to get you the necessary header files. Mention my name, say hi for me, I haven't spoken to him for a loong while, not even sure he's still at Polaroid. Good luck!
