KOKOPELLI FARM OFFERS CHICKS, APPLES

Dear Y2K-Aware Friends--

Kokopelli Farm offers two good Y2K food supplies at this time--apples and chickens.

We are currently harvesting both Golden Delicious and Rome Beauty apples. Romes are a particularly good Y2K option, because they are "keepers." They do not ripen until Oct. and can be picked through Dec. They can be kept through at least April and even longer with proper cold storge. Our organicapples sell for $1 a pound, if U-Pick, and $1.50 if We-pick.

This is a good time of year to buy chicks, which will mature through the winter, and begin laying in February. Because our winters are moderate, one does not need a coup to house chickens. However, an aviary made of wire is helpful to protect them while sleeping from predation. Otherwise, they can be free range on rural properties. Chickens do well in fenced backyards with minimal attention.

Kokopelli Farm has 30 chickens at this tiem, from 8 different breeds. The chicks cost $4 and the pullets, cockerels and laying hens cost from $4 to $8 each. Chickens do not lay much during the darker winters months, unless one lights up their sleeping quarters. I can help instruct people on how to care for chickens.

The best way to reach us is by calling (707) 829-0815 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. I am new to email, so it is not the best way to reach me. If you get my phone machine, leave a convenient time for you to come by the farm, and I will call back to confirm and give directions.

Best,
