12/31/1999 Concerns

Should we worry about total catastrophe when the clock turns to midnight? Should we arm ourselves, clear our bank accounts, plan for the raiding hordes, etc, etc... I hear so many different view points (extreme to benign) that i wanted to ask this discussion group which strikes me as pretty astute. Thanks for the help.

I suspect that the effects of the glitch will build up and the worst will impact by March, 2000. I personally will be surprised if the lights go out at the stroke of midnight. My electricity provider has spent so much time reassuring us that things will be fine. I am prepared for otherwise, but I would think it would be highly irresponsible for a publicly traded corporation to mislead us to such an extensive degree.

Rather, I believe that oil availability, refinery availability, and supply chain issues with every company will mainifest themselves after a few months of increasing computer glitches.

I have set aside cash, bought gold, stockpiled food and water, and bought a few weapons for home defense. In my mind, these are prudent measures based on what I percieve will happen next year.

I do expect that we will recover in time. My opinion of the response of the human element is not as jaded as some on this forum.

Just my 2 cents worth--take it or leave it.

Consider that the US imports fully 55% of it's oil. Now, ask yourself...what happens when 55% of the oil is cut off? After all, Venezuela, Iraq, and all the other oil producers are FUBAR (go do research if you don't believe me). Remember that in the recession of '75, it was only 25% shortage in oil that cause a massive resession and gas lines for blocks. Now, whatever you think will happen when 55% of our oil drops, add to that;

domestic oil problems national and international bank problems government problems big business problesm some blackouts embedded systesms etc,etc, etc, etc

So take my advice...go get your plastic, and build ye a bunker or somthin' cause THE END is almost apon us. Sleep well
