Our late GS had toe cancer in three toes. Two and half of them were amputated.When caught early you could possiably save most of the toe.She lived a good life after the surgeries.This is an excellent question.When caught early,saves the cancer to spreading to lymph or somewhere else. The signs are around the nail bed where it looks like a sore that is swelled. Some of the nail will sometimes break off. Don't wait to see if the sore heals.The faster you see the Vet the better off the dog is. GOOD LUCK
