College Place City council agreed to collect 6 percent more on the property tax rate if initiative 695 passes. It came out on the front page of the Union Bulletin. Government Blackmail! Government bully tactics. This should be illegal!

These guys need to be exposed. If it was my town, I'd get their pictures blown up and make bightly colored flyers with what they're doing on them and plaster them all over town. We know we can't rely on newspapers anymore to expose these disobedient public servants. They all forget their oaths, to defend the constitution, not to give it to us all up the *$#@#%*!

Tim Eyewash tried to make us think that MVET funding was only 2 percent of the state budget. Later we found out it was all a big con game. He threatened that we would be scalped by our own elected representatives if we didn't do what he wanted! He told us that neighboring states pay $30. Threats! Lies! Diversionary tactics! Disgrace that the newspapers don't expose him more explicitly. In any other society a liar who tried to dupe half a million people would be behind bars.

I think somebody might have some explaining to do, come election time.

Two Percent Tim told us that I-695 would control taxes. Now we're finding out that just the opposite is happening. Cities are doing exactly what they SAID they would do if I-695 passes, and exactly what TIM said they WOULDN'T do if I-695 passes. I wouldn't be surprised if other city councils are planning to follow suit, but are waiting until Nov 3 to announce it, lest they get voted out.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! You have been well conned. If we vote for Two Percent Tim we send a message to him that taxpayers are sheep who can have the wool pulled over their eyes, and that threats, lies and diversionary tactics work.

oh I'm still voting yes, but I'll be sure to take my voted represntatives to task for their actions. If you ask me these last minute taxes are just more reasons to vote yes on the 2nd

Expect the legislature to roll back all taxes and fees at all levels to the day 695 qualified for the ballot.

You, uh, heard it here first.

"these last minute taxes are just more reasons to vote yes on the 2nd"

You were counting on a tax cut, and you feel betrayed. You're right to feel betrayed. OPEN YOUR EYES!!! It's TIM who did this to us, not the "politicians!" He ain't gonna be there to help us fight our city halls to roll back the city taxes.

And tomorrow Two Percent Tim will come out and say with a smug grin, "How could a 2 percent cut justify a 6 percent increase? The fact that politicians would resort to such a tactic shows how little compassion they have for the average taxpayer." After all, he's the source of all tax cuts and efficiency, while the OTHER guys are the source of all service cuts and tax increases, right?

Think he has any compassion for the average taxpayer? He's probably laughing his head off right now.

Uhhhh, I don't believe it was Tim Eyman who passed the tax increase. I believe it was the greedy politicians. Tim is only trying (and will succed next Tuesday) in giving us the first meaningful tax relief the average guy has had in 20 years. It's the moneyhungry politicians who don't want to give up one red cent of "their" (read: OUR) money.

Mr. Campbell, sir, you need to update your talking points from the AFL-CIO or whatever other ultra-leftist organization is feeding you the dreck that you are spewing on our board.

Oh.

I guess I'd better vote yes then.

-- Joe Campbell (joecampbell76@hotmail.com), October 28, 1999.

Hmm, let's see, the politicians are raising taxes "because" of 695, I guess when they would have raised them anyway, it would have been "because it was just necessary" (?)

There is no getting through to a socialist, they don't understand "leave me alone" and if you want it, pay for it yourself!

"Oh. I guess I'd better vote yes then. "
