So why $30.00? You really wanna know why?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

It could have been any figure. $30.00 is easy to spell, easy to pronounce. It just rolls off your tongue. It IS in line with surrounding states.

But the number could have been anything because it is a SYMBOL!!

Just like the TEA in Boston harbor was a SYMBOL. They BOTH are a rallying point for the BIGGER picture.

What's the bigger picture? You can't have any more of our money unless you ask us first.

Boy that is hard to understand.

Trying saying this a few times and maybe it will sink in.

"You can't have any more of our money unless you ask us first." "You can't have any more of our money unless you ask us first." "You can't have any more of our money unless you ask us first." "You can't have any more of our money unless you ask us first."

Ok breath now!!

You write "because it is a SYMBOL!!"

Does this mean Chez is a symbol for the Pro Choice crowd?

Ed - a symbol of "he how dies with the most toys wins"

I thought it was because 29 and 31 were taken.

Oh well!

The more I think about it, the more I think the number is really irrelevant. I think Mr. Eyeman could have chosen a figure that would not set the state back one dollar this year, and the antis would cry the same story, save for future tense. "Oh if you do this, we will be broke next year and all hell will break loose....".
