We wnat to find ways to make studnets more aware of what goes on on campus and we are looking for a speaker or something like that to bring to campus. If anyone knows of any good speakers who talk about how to stop violence or somethign of that nature, could you please email me and let me know. Take a look at the SAFE Speaker's List, on the SAFE web page.

It has a list of speakers and their backgrounds.

Dave, great website.

I know you'll probably find his difficult to believe, especially because you've had so much experience with domestic violence. However, the sociological research overwhelmingly supports the idea that men are abused in relationships about as often as women are.

I don't really expect you to believe this, because I didn't either. However, if you have an open mind and are willing to read the research, I believe you'll come to the same conclusions.

The implications of this are far-reaching in our field of domestic violence. As an operator of a website for underserved DV groups, I've been absolutely stunned at the number of people out there who've had their lives RUINED because of the simple belief that MEN abuse WOMEN and anything besides that is impossible.

That attitude is destroying many people's lives.

I love your website, but as a professional in this field, I think you have a responsibility to make a careful, reasoned investigation into this.

There is a bibliography of journal articles and so on on the SAFE website www.safe4al.org , many of which are peer-reviewed journals. I think you'll be surprised how many of them show that men are abused in equal numbers to women.

In addition, you might consider reading Abused Men, by Phil Cook, which does a good job of describing this issue.

Thank you for doing such wonderful work for women who are abused. There is a desperate need for this.

I think there's an even greater need for abused men right now.

In reading some private email from Dave Maupin (who I think I've heard of or talked with before), he seems to not believe that men are always perpetrators and women victims. Perhaps the website does not adequately express this.
