Safeco field and unintended consequences

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Do you 'spose the legislators watching the I-695 debate would do the Safeco field thing differently if they had the chance?

Given db's penchant for "unintended consequences," he'll probably understand when I say the legislature has no one but themselves to blame for the current popularity of I-695.

Brad:

I have to agree with YOU this time. I didn't like that action either. I commented on another thread on how they could have reasoned it out to their own satisfaction, but they didn't bring the voters along with them on the decisions.

That doesn't make 695 a good idea, however. That is a bigger issue, with much bigger negative consequences, intended and unintended.

Here are the top 10 reasons to vote FOR I-695:

10. Safeco Field. 9. Mariners ownership being crybabies. 8. Light-Rail was voted in as to include Tacoma, Seatle and Everett. Now Everett has been canceled and we in Snohomish County are STILL paying that tax. 7. Snohomish county heald an election to raise property taxes and lost. Then the county counsel raised the taxes anyway. 6. The current MVET is unfair. 5. "I" get to save money on tabs. 4. I'll get to vote on every fee or tax increase. 3. My representative keeps raising my taxes and I don't like it. 2. "My government is a leach on my wallet and I-695 is the pill to rid me of it. 1. I'm a greedy, selfish Schrouge that wants to keep every penny I can. Just like Big Business.

I appreciate your honesty. I am sure #1 was all you really needed.
