N.Y. Clearing House Says Y2K Test 'Perfect' So Far

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Clearing House Association, the electronic link between banks and business that allows fund transfers and direct payrolls deposits, said Monday a three-day Year 2000 test had so far yielded ``prefect'' results.

The system handles 95 percent of all international U.S.- dollar transactions worldwide, which amounts to $1.2 trillion and $2 trillion per day, according to the clearing house.

``The latest is we are running our production out of the backup. We successfully made the switch,'' said Joseph Pawelczyk, vice president of systems development.

``We are the very deep plumbing of the banking system. We are using our back-up data center for the running of the business. It opened at 1230 a.m. (0030 EDT) Monday and all the banks are connected and doing their businesses.''

He said the test at the back up site was due to end at 1730 EDT (2130 GMT) Monday.

The Clearing House's back up facility is located in Weehawken. N.J., across the Hudson River from New York City, the location of the primary operation.

But Pawelczyk declined to say specifically where each site was due to security concerns.

The New York Clearing House Association is the cash register of the New World Order, of course they are going to make damn sure it works. Notice they say it is "the electronic link between banks and business". As far as the link between banks and consumers, well that's a little farther down towards the bottom of the pyramid in their eyes wouldn't you think? We still don't have these kinds of guarantees when it comes to our money!

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!

Okay - great: their test worked perfectly. I'm certainly willing to concede that, and am willing to concede that, if enough time, talent, and effort are spent, the whole problem could have been eliminated in transactions between many instututions, not just an isolated test with one company's monitoring/making transactions between a few banks.

To that purpose, fantastic. This part of the problem - as it is manisfested in finance transactions between banks for this company in this city, in this country, appear to be fixed.

But .... WHY THE HELL ARE THEY STILL TESTING TODAY?

But ... WHY THE HELL ARE THEY TESTING FOR ONLY ONE PERIOD? NO OVERNIGHT TESTS? NO END-OF-MONTH TESTS?

NO DAY-DAY-DAY-DAY TESTS (For international banking transactions - don't you think it is a good idea to test through at least three shifts for "end-of-day" transactions at different time zones?)

Hah! Those bastards still love their symbolism, been using it for 146 years and never gave it up! They've redone their website since last time I looked. To portray their number one goal of global domination they show the planet Earth floating in space. Then, just barely noticeable, the scales tipping just slightly in favor towards the right. I think the backup thing means that they are testing their main sytems and they have leased out a backup to conduct the real activity during testing. Maybe the testing is being done on identical transactions, maybe simulations.

Again, this is "the electronic link between banks and business that allows fund transfers and direct payrolls deposits" and has nothing to do with payroll withdrawals, or the consumer side of banking.
