Massassachusets cops (2)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

By now most of you are aware that the anti-taxpayer group have used pictures of cops from Salem Mass. in their anti-taxpayer brochures mailed to the public.

So far,W.G.E.N. has found out the following info:

1-someone has already called the Salem Mass. P.D. and apparently there is an investigation started about possible misuse of the copywrited shoulder patch on the cops uniforms.

2-a capt.Cuomo(sp?)has been appointed to look into this matter.

I don't think this is enough. The other questions that need an answer are:

Do these P.O.'s know that their pictures are being used to perpetrate a fraud on the taxpayers of Wa?

Do they even know their pictures are being used?

Have they signed a release to allow their pictures to be sent to thousands of homes in Wa. pretending to be Seattle police officers?(we weren't supposed to look past the SPD insignea on their lapels)

Are they being paid for this?

Are the mayor and chief of police aware that pictures of their officers are being used in a disinformation campaign by an anti-taxpayer group in Wa.; and if they do know, what are they doing about it.

I believe that outraged taxpayers might want to call or FAX or e-mail the appropriate officials and ask these questions and any others you may think important.

Maybe call any radio stations or newspapers in the area of Salem and ask these questions.

Chief of Police:

Capt. Robert St. Pierre

Salem P.D.

95 margin St.Salem Mass.

Personally, I am going to call Kirby Wilbur and try to get him to make an "on-air" call to the C.O.P. or mayor and ask these questions.

Any body want to call other stations and try to generate interest in this? The morning is the time to do it because of the time difference.

If we make enough noise maybe The local media will stop ignoring this kind of stuff.

Try it you'll like it.
