Think of this as a metaphor for y2k in general.

Man Trapped 40 Hours In Elevator

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A man was trapped in a Manhattan high-rise elevator car all weekend, his cries and screams for help unanswered, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

The reports said Business Week magazine production manager Nicholas White was leaving his office in a Rockefeller Center building Friday night around 11:25 P.M. when the elevator stopped just above the 13th floor.

White, 32, who apparently screamed and pushed every button to try and draw the attention of building employees, spent 40 hours in the elevator. He was freed Sunday afternoon when a building employee saw him on a security camera.

``I'm still a little shaky,'' White was quoted as saying from his apartment.

A friend of White's told the New York Post that he had no food or drink in the elevator. All he had was a pack of Life Savers and three cigarettes. ``When he had to go to the bathroom, he would pry open the doors a little,'' the friend said.

A brief dip in voltage apparently halted the elevator car, but building management did not yet know why White went unnoticed for 40 hours.

Now, is that a joke about his size?

And, imagine if the doors closed suddenly! Ouch!

Well, this just goes to show you that one should never get on an elevator without a bug-out bag full of waterpaks, a good book,a cell phone, candy and cigarettes.
