No refund at the DMV RENO, Nevada, Oct. 21  The Department of Motor Vehicles will not be giving refunds to people who were falsely required to get smog checks.

DMV officials say the troubled new Genesis system required some motorists to pay for unneeded smog tests. The problem occurred in September when registration renewals improperly required some 1998 and 1999 automobiles to be smog-tested. DMV officials say the problem was minor and has since been corrected, but say they will not refund the money people paid for the smog tests.
