It has been a while since my Rebel G body and accompanying instruction book left my hand, but I think that it schoses the depth of filed based on the two outer focusing points. THis was for the Rebel G. Again, I can't be 100% about this. Can anyone else confirm?

You could also do a quick experiment with this idea and see if a different aperature setting is given for objects 20 ffeet apart as opposed for 200 feet apart.
