Does anyone have the Heathrow morgue story

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

On 17 October the UK newspaper "News of the World" ran a story about a makeshift morgue being set up in case of y2k-related accidents at Heathrow.

Does anyone have the full story?

Nope. The London Times story is about another morgue. The story I am after concerns an ice rink at Slough. Unfortunately, News of the World doesn't appear to have an URL.

paul.....sorry bout the first try.....but i THINK i found what you're looking for:

While the authorities assure the public they have nothing to fear from the millennium computer bug, it would be remiss of them not to plan for all contingencies. So it is, as the Sunday Express reports, that sites across the country have been identified for use as "temporary mortuaries". They include warehouses, old aircraft hangars, former military bases and an ice rink. Just in case, you understand.

_____________

i went to askjeeves.com, put in "UK newspapers", then when a search came up put in "Ice Rink" and got the above quote from "the sunday express".........i'd just type in the url for you, but it's a mile long and everytime i try to type one in here that is that long a lot of extra spaces are included.....which messes up the url.......

oh...what the heck....here it is......you just find the "extra spaces" and the url should take you there:

just think what would happen if *i* actually tried to LINK the darn thing HA!
