Welcome Dick Mills to Energyland.net!

Somewhat OT to Y2k, but ultimately, not really...

Dick Mills, a good personal freind and fellow electric industry vet, has started writing for EnergyLand.net. You may have followed his columns at Westergaard 2000 over the past year or so - when I had to quit writing Powerful Prognostications for Westergaard due to time constraints, Dick was gracious enough to take over writing the column.

I think Dick is the perfect addition to EnergyLand.net, because he has this uncanny ability to communicate technical issues in a way that non-techies can appreciate. Like myself, Dick has been following industry deregulation issues for a long time. In fact, when we got together a few weeks ago to discuss his involvement with EnergyLand.net, he related some interesting factoids about deregulation / restructuring in his homestate that I wasn't aware of - and that will pinch many folks who desire to have either backup generation or supply some of their own homepower needs. Without stealing his thunder, he'll be writing a future column about these types of issues that each state is encountering.

Most importantly, he's looking at deregulation from a consumer's perspective. I know he's going to bring the same great analysis to deregulation that he brought to the Y2k issue.

Check out his first column, which you can get to right from the front page of EnergyLand.net!.

I just finished reading Mr. Mill's first article and I was grateful for the explanations of things such as "stranded costs", etc. I'll especially be looking forward to reading the facts Dick has about his home state, since I'm in the same state!

Many thanks, Rick. Dick Mill's input is a welcome addition.
