Please understand the real problem with I695

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Lets face it that the politicians once again, have and will continue to screw us until we make a point. I695, although I will vote yes (and Ive already paid $1100.00 clams for tabs this year) only because it takes an act of God to get something passed and its a step in the right direction. The real solution would be for everyone involved to realize the amount it takes to fund the programs and tax accordingly. I would be willing to pay, lets say $100.00 per vehicle providing I knew the money was going to be used what is was intended for. $30.00 may not be enough but $750.00 is out of this world. Wheres the common ground, it sure in the hell is not in Washington

A classic example: Locke is now thinking Hmmm. Looks like they have caught on and maybe we should change our tune about this vehicle tax because when I695 passes its going to hurt us.

My response: Trust, Integrity should have been at the forefront of this issue. What does it cost to run, thats what we should be charging. No more no less!!!

The real problem is we have been taken advantage of and cannot allow it to continue.

You're absolutely right. If this fails Locke and the rest of the bunch won't give it a second thought. The only way we are going to see a change is to pass I-695. The government can't stop spending. Whether it's the Democrats or the Republicans.

I've talked to several of my representatives about the MVET, ferries, HOV lanes. All I get is lip service (sorry Bill). And this from people I have known for years and help to elect. Unlike what some people say the only way we're going to see anything happen is to take back control.

Ed - thank god for Word or the spellmiester would have slapped me silly by now.

I read that article about Gov. Locke deciding to announce if voters quash 695 he'll take on the initiative. What caught my eye the most was the promise he made, that continued to degrade as the article went on. First he says, "vote it down and I'll call a special session to reform this tax...". Then his assistant says, "uh well maybe we won't call a special session, but if we don't then it'll be the first issue of the next session...". When asked about specifics, "uh well, that is kind of sketchy right now, but really we promise we'll take this on...". So let me see...

It goes from a special session, to next year with no specifics on what will be done. Yeah right. That has about as much value as a Yugo.

The tabs deals is great; but this is democracy we should want to vote on where the money goes and whether to raise taxes. (The representative does represent m
