The right/best printer(s) for digital cameras

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Why don't you guys cover printer/output devices, such as inkjet and/or dye-sub printers, as well as standalone single print ourput devices, on this Website? I've been looking for some...ANY dependable source for information on the right device for paper prints from digital images and I can't find any. I have a CoolPix 950, so the output question is significant.

I also have a Nikon Coolpix 950 ( my last camera was a Toshiba M1). It is great, and I get great output from my Epson Stylus Photo 750 using Photoshop LE as my imaging program. My last printer was an HP Deskjet 722c which output good pictures, but they don't compare to the Epson. good luck.

Skip,

I own a Canon PowerShot Pro70 digicam and an Epson Stylus Photo 700. I also agree that Epson printers are amoung the best inkjet printers for photo quality inkjet output.

I have heard that some dye sublimation printers have the equivalent to inkjet output at 2400 dpi, but I cannot verify this. Count on spending many times more money on a dye sub printer investment than on inkjet due to initial equipment and cartridge expenses. Whether dye sub is worth it or not can only be answered by an owner of a dye sub printer who also is familiar with the Epson Stylus Photo printers!

Good luck in your search! :) -------------///--------------

Thanks for the responses. Has anyone tested out the new HP 1100 series printers?
