Hormel Foods Announces 40.8% Third Quarter Increase In Net Earnings

AUSTIN, MINN. (August 19, 1999) - Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: Hormel) today announced net earnings of $29,550,000, or $.40 per diluted share, for the third quarter ended July 31. This represents an increase of $8,556,000, or 40.8 percent, over third quarter net earnings one year ago of $20,994,000, or $.28 per diluted share.

For the first nine months of the year (39 weeks), operating earnings were $99,956,000, an increase of $23,219,000, or 30.3 percent, over operating earnings of $76,737,000 for the comparable period of fiscal 1998. Operating earnings per diluted share were $1.36 as compared to $1.01 for the same three quarters of last year.

Yea, I know this is not real new stuff. But it does show (timely) prepping by Mr & Mrs John Q. Public.

Hormel is indeed a Y2K force to be reckoned with. Power is shifting hands due to Y2K and it wouldn't suprise me in the least if come 2000 we see Hormel Fresh Bread instead of Mrs. Fresh Bread, and also Hormel Dairy products, Hormel chocolate etc.

Boeing also reported better than street estimate earnings for 3rd quarter. How the hell does that fit with y2k?(remember, "they" are covering everything up. How can the biggest aerospace producer in the world do that if they are "all going away in January"?)

What arogance! How typical! The Debunkies lost?!?

If Hormel is getting the profits from prudent preparation, then the snake-oil salesmen like Mike Adams (loosewire) Greg "soyboy" Caton, and the rest of the vendors aren't getting it. Good! Those evil grifters are even announcing "fire sales" at HUGE discounts, which proves they were overcharging to begin with! I hope they go broke!!

Debunking y2k seems to be more about stopping the spin, the false information and the hype! The hype that is generating fear which is then used to sell books, tapes, survival supplies & newsletters. Even worse to promote insideous agenda's like gary norths church state.

I wonder why so many glass-half-fullers insist on painting optimists with such a big brush? You constantly accuse "pollys" of stopping peopl from prepping; I have YET to see one example of that. Yet the chant continues. You are stuck in a binary mindset. Get over it.
