what about Nightline on October 13th?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

A friend called me last night, "They're talking about y2k on Nightline." But when I turned it on, the talk had turned to terrorism. They had Sec. of Defense Cohen, Sec. of HHS Shalala, and some guy from the National Security Council who looked very threatening and very stern.

Today he said that they said they were ready to dispatch troops to cities suffering y2k disruptions within 24 hours, and that mayors and governors had already been trained regarding what to do until then.

Did anybody else see this?

The martial law march is being drummed up. It may be a good thing. Time Will Tell.

The Nightline story you mentioned was a followup to a five-part series they did last week on Biowar. I thought it was interesting since they didn't advertise the show on the 13th. It seems like the government wanted that forum for equal time. Then Cohen made his announcement about troups in the streets the next day... I think they know something we don't.

When was the last time Nightline did a six episode series on anything?

What became clear is that no one really knows what to do. What is certain is that millions will die... and no one is factoring that in with "disruptions" in suppply chains. Suppose the mock biowar attack was near Wall Street?... the entire financial system would instantly come down.

I'm certainly glad I don't live in the paranoid little world you children inhabit.

I just lived through what they say is the 3rd worst natural disaster to hit the U.S. since Columbus discovered America, and no one here who lives outside a mental ward shares your concerns. Friends of mine died in this thing. We had the military here in spades, for weeks, and what they did was HELP. SAVED MANY LIVES.

Grow up.
