Remembering Dean Mills - Person to Person Evangelism

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

I was just wondering if anyone out there would like to share any memories of Dean Mills. He died at 3:30 P.M. on October 14th. He was director of Person to Person Evangelism located in Hillsboro Ohio Home of Hillsboro Family Camp. I thought this could be an encouragement to his family and the family of God.

Brother Paul.....

I never had the opportunity to meet Dean Mills personally. Due to the fact that he was a director of a "Crisis Counseling" course I took, we talked on the phone a number of times.....as well as corresponded.

A think a man is well know by the company he keeps. And the people that knew him, that thought highly of him, are people that I have a great deal of respect for. Therefore, there is little doubt, the church of Jesus Christ has suffered a great loss.

God bless Dean.....the journey has just begun!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family....may they rest in the hope of the Eternal One!!

Sincerely, Danny Gabbard, Sr.

Dean mills was a great man of God. I loved him very much. I can say, without a doubt, that every time Dean taught or preached that I learned something. There was always enough meat on the table to satisfy the most "picky eater". His influence will continue. I know I bear the marks of his teaching and everyone I teach will be influenced by his life, because he influenced me.

I agree with Jim, that everytime Dean taught, you came away with some meat. We had Dean for a revival while I was in PA and I have also had the opportunity to go to Family Camp since I moved north in 1988 (along with some leadership seminars). I will best remember him for his teaching on leadership (great teaching), holiness and wisdom. Dean will be missed. A great man of faith!

Dean will be greatly missed. Dean's impact for the Church I don't believe will truly be felt until several years from now. He has done much to restore Biblical leadership in the Churches. He was a great encouragement to me in my service to our Lord. He offered a pat on the back when I was going through some very rough times witht the Church I was with. Several years later he gently chastized me for something I did. His objective was to make me, and everyone around him a better servant. The Church has lost another Barnabus. I thank God for Dean being a friend of mine. He will be missed.

Dean's passing is also a call for the rest of us to stand in the gap! Because Dean's absence creates a large gap to be filled.

Thank you Marlene for allowing Dean to share so much of his life with all of us. My prayers are with you.

Dean Mills was one outstanding servant for Christ! His example of humility and his intellectual excellence will be truly missed by all who love the truth. I too am glad I met this Lord's servant and will look forward to seeing him again.

Let me add my "amen" to what has already been said. I only sat under the teaching of Dean Mills a few times, but came away with more knowledge and encouragement each time. We have lost a good man. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Dan Johnson Kalkaska (MI) Church of Christ

I did not know Dean Mills that well, but I appreciated what I knew about him very much. He was a Godly man and will be missed here on earth.

Gentlemen, it is time for us to challenge ourselves to rise up and take up where Dean left off in the church. It is time that preachers stand up and be counted(if you aren't already doing this) as Dean did in his daily walk in life and in the pulpit. Dean's thoughts on Holiness were what the church needs not only to hear but to live out in daily living. It is time that preachers start to proclaim the full council of God in the pulpit each Lord's day and challenge God's people to be Holy for He is Holy.

May God bless each one who knew Dean Mills and we should count our blessings.

Dean was a great man. My Father worked with Dean at Person to Person for 2 years and we still continue to go to the Hillsboro Family Camp. My hope is that as a young evangelist I can live up to the standard of excellence set by men like Dean Mills. I love his family very much and the time I have spent with them has been a blessing.

For those who never got to attend Dean's funeral you may go to Summit1.edu next week and listen to the sermon and the eulogy of this great man of God. I worked with Dean for a quarter of a century and never heard a word come out of his mouth that I felt should not come from the mouth of a Christian. The man is and I purposely said "is" because he is of the living, an example to follow. May his tribe increase. George at Summit
