Howdy--

Just received in the mail a new ATM card from Compass Bank. Expiration date 12/49. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow!

Best regards,

Perhaps they need some "WINDEX"

But...which 49 is it? Gold rush time? Or Mars exploration time?

Don't they ever look at the dang things BEFORE they send them out?

Be sure to tell us if it works, OK?

My 11/00 Bank One card still crashes at Circuit City. Has for over a year. I like to try it now and then just too see what happens and watch the salespeople squirm.

alleged troll detector,......

Nope, not a troll and I have have several years of troll detection experience. Read the threads on DMV on east coast issuing registration for 'horseless carriages'........get a clue.

Update--

Have not been able to try the card since they have just replaced the old ATM with a new system which will be activated on Monday....however, customer service assures me that the 12/49 date was intentional and is part of the Y2K remediation program/process.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

She's sending me all the information they have on their compliance project...might be interesting reading.

Have a nice weekend,

It's a feature!

Final Update:

Tried my 12/49 card today and it worked just fine. But I want to tell you, showing that rascal around has certainly shocked the shorts of some of my Polly friends. Hmmm, to tell them the truth or not....?

Have a nice day,

Hmmm... Do those Compass Bank computer systems systems use proprietary "True Y2K" of "Magnetic Y2K" windowing routines? It must be interesting handling and reconciling External Data Intechange (EDI)? ;-)

"customer service assures me that the 12/49 date was intentional and is part of the Y2K remediation program/process."

The 12/49 date is correct (intentional), and is a result of a successful y2k remediation program? This doesn't make sense to me...does it mean that the expiry date is 12/2049???
