Get out the vote this week-end!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

The absentee ballots go out this weekend. A fair number of people vote as absentees. Now is the time to get the signs out, to telephone your friends, and to encourage them to get those absentee ballots in. Don't take it for granted, no matter what the polls say. Yes on 695!

Absentee ballots in the mail tomorrow Thursday, October 14, 1999

The statewide debate over the cost of vehicle license tags appears to be driving more and more voters toward the polls.

King County elections officials tomorrow will mail out more than 300,000 absentee ballots for the Nov. 2 general election.

Those ballots will be in the mail boxes of nearly one-third of King County's registered voters by early next week.

As the vote nears, elections officials are receiving hundreds of requests daily for absentee ballots from those who would rather vote by mail than go to a local polling place on election day.

Officials say the numbers are increasing, in part, because of voter interest in Initiative 695. If approved, it would reduce annual license tags on passenger vehicles to a flat fee of $30, saving many drivers hundreds of dollars from the current vehicle excise tax. http://www.southcountyjournal.com/Newsdocs/other/jaw63457.html

I think a lot of people who have never voted before are going to register just to vote FOR I-695. The union people always vote so they are already factored in. We just might get some good legislators this time as well. As the true colors come out on the people against I-695 and if it is defeated (which I doubt no matter how much money they throw at it), they will experience a backlash the likes of which they have never seen.
