How do maine coons do living with a dog? What is the right age to introduce a dog into the household that already has a maine coon, if at all?

We have has an English Bull terrier (not a pit bull!) for the past nine years. Recently we acquired a lovely 4 month-old Maine Coon kitten from the S.P.C.A. The dog is doing her best to be good but has still chased the kitten around once or twice. The kitten is small, light, agile, and careful ... It's been no contest. The kitten has chosen to spend most of her time upstairs while the dog lives on the main floor. This isn't a bad arrangement as we live in Toronto and there is a huge movement afoot not to let cats outside.

Anyhow, to answer your question, our kitten is four months old and it's working out well. I am sure the two will be down to ignoring each other in a month or so. No problemo!

My brown tabby with white has lived successfully with my springer spaniel for four years. They are great buddies.

We got our mc lucy when she was about six weeks old. We found her, brought her home and introduced her to our 1 1/2 year old Shetland Sheepdog - Hollie. They get along great they play together, sleep together, and keep us up all night together!
