A friend ( Y2K author) knows officials in FEMA and other agencies. He said at least 25-35 nuclear plants in America are not compliant, including Georgia. The Governor of Georgia was told to expect at least 3 weeks of blackout, but he told the public to prepare for only 3 days of food! He also said the fgovernment has this operation Gardenplot for years, to deal with civil disturbance. The urban warrior training in 120 countries are for Y2K-caused riots but under the guise of tackling terrorism. Any Governor can inform the mayors of major cities and within 45 minutes, all bridges and freeways will be closed. This is to protect the farms from hungry people. Only these 120 major cities ( including NY city, L.A., Sacramento, Dallas, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Antonio...) will have major military presence, because they don't have enough manpower and food for the small towns. Tough luck! So while those who live in small towns may not get federal protection and assistence, they probably will have more freedom. Please let your family know about this. Government's contingency plan for Y2K and resultant chaos has been confirmed from several reliable sources. Lastly, the recent nuclear accident in S. Korea was Y2K related. So was the big power outage in the Bay Area. The PG & E is covering up this fact. I cannot divulge the names of these sources. You will have to find confirmation on your own. Good luck, everyone.

Ray, thanks for this confirmation that I needed. I'm not surprised at all. I hear similar plan from my friends in the marines and national guard. The government is willing to sacrifice some to reach their goal of control over the population.

This same argument constantly reappears about not having enough troops, etc. to impose martial law.

Look, I can control a room full of people with one handgun.

But that's not the point. Martial law does not mean that we would all be hearded into detention camps. It is EASY to impose a curfew. It is EASY to restrict people to their homes from sunset to sunrise. Those found on the streets will be shot. Care to take a chance? Thought not. You are now controlled.

Minneapolis has perhaps 10 major 'escape routes'. It would be EASY to blockade them all and would take no more than 45 minutes (if that) to coordinate. That is why, ideally, I would like to be out of the city no later than December 1. I WILL be gone by December 15.

If I did my my math right,vegas will have 15 to 16,000 people per square mile. An earlier thread I read posted here a few lines down says vegas is exspecting 750,000 to 1,000,000 people to merge on the city for celebrating the new year. I believe that by y2k's eve, people will be scared and will simply cancel travel plans and stay home.

This, I believe, will come to pass with or without gov't intervention.

Nonetheless, given the fact that the Fed gov is obviously concerned about what might transpire following the rollover, they will see it in their best interest to make certain that people are at least that scared.

I think this is plausible but good heavens! This just blows my mind. It is so difficult to imagine of things being much different than now. I am too young to remember the turmoil of the 60s or the Depression or WWII. As far as I'm concerned, the strangest, most cyncial times I can remember were around 1980 with the high gas prices and the hostage situation.

I just rented the flick "Strange Days" (1995) which dealt with a murder mystery / cyberpunk plot taking place in the last days and hours of 1999. While its predictions of being "wired" are a bit ahead of the times, I fear that the city scenes and background plot may be all too accurate. James Cameron, way back then, prognosticated about computer failures ("have you noticed all those errors lately in people's banks"), gasoline at three bucks a gallon, a bad ecomomy, and streets crawling with rioters, soldiers, guardsmen, and cops. Sometime soon, the hysteria is going to build. Even without the threat of computers going badly, stuff is GOING to get really weird...fear of hysteria alone and a rash of those oh-so-lovely holiday layoffs are going to infect the air with anarchy and restlessness, provoking a response from Control Central....
