Stocks

I currently do not invest in stocks (cash, gold & silver); however I heard from a source in the upper management of K-Mart that a merger with Target is on the near future agenda. I said I wouldn't dream of investing unless Y2K cleared the agenda and turned out to only be a BITR. He said that the companies would not make a move before Y2K either. The reason for a possible merger is an all out assault at Walmart's dominance. Put that tidbit on the backburner for a possible investment in 2000 if the market only suffers a correction and not a collapse.

Target is one of the most profitable divisions of Dayton-Hudson Corp (NYSE:DH).

I doubt it's for sale. If it were, K-mart would not be able to afford it.

I think for sure it would be the other way around. K-Mart selling to Target or in fact Dayton Hudson. K-Mart cant seem to get anything right.

The last I heard K-Mart was trying to merge with a grocery store.

I was at my local Big K this evening because of the advertised sales on canned goods.

Throughout the year I have been monitoring my local K-Mart's canned food sales, and this is the first week they have put ALL SPECIAL CANNED GOODS ON SALE THE SAME WEEK!

There were lots of empty spaces on the shelves.

BTW, Gary North commented on this phenomenon of JIT canned goods today.

Better check back tomorrow and secure several rain checks!
