Are Fisher Broadcasting's broadsides a campaign contribution?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Fisher Broadcasting is encouraging people to vote no. If you listen carefully to the statement on their radio stations (KVI), I believe the advocate a particular "No" vote.

If I recall campaign finance rules, that would constitute a contribution in kind. I would suggest that the No on 695 campaign filings with the PDC be investigated to see if that campaign expenditure was reported. I have a hunch that they're breaking campaign finance laws by using free air time without reporting it.

Good luck! Go I-695!

P.S. - I spent Sunday afternoon posting a few dozen signs in the "Fighting 46th" District of North East Seattle. Thanks for the signs!

Brad--

I've compiled a list of large donors to the no695 campaign. In this list, there is a donation from a Fisher (somewhere in Seattle. . .I didn't input any addresses) to the tune of $50000. In other words, you're probably correct that Fisher Broadcasting has donated to the no695 campaign, but your hunch that the donations aren't reported is probably incorrect.
