Minnesota hosts 'Y2K on the farm'The Forum - 10/08/1999
The University of Minnesota Extension Service is sponsoring several workshops on Y2K, aimed specifically at farmers and agribusinesses.
Workshops are Oct. 20, Best Western, Thief River Falls; Oct. 27, Red River Inn, Moorhead; Nov. 3, American Heritage National Bank, St. Cloud. They run from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is requested: call (800) 367-5363.
Troubles can occur when older computers are used to control equipment.
Electronic scales can be a problem, as well as highly sophisticated grain drying equipment and crop storage ventilation systems, grain legs, moisture testers, feed mixing equipment, security systems, alarm systems for fire, smoke and heat, and electrical load controllers from electric utilities.
