And the survey says

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Over the past week my wife and I have had two consumer surveys conducted by phone. They were typical in that they crossed a variety of products and personal preferences. The one thing that struck us as odd is that there was one question in the middle of the survey that was definitely OT.

How much cash do you plan to take out of the bank and have available before January 1, 2000?

Anybody else been surveyed lately?

Just curious

I have not had such a survey. If I did get a call like that I'd tell them I don't think Y2K will be any problem and that I use debit and credit cards for all purchases. This could be a group of folks getting a tally on easy places to hit.

LETS BE CAREFUL OUT THERE !

p.s. NokternL - you are one rude animal, a mean spirit, a nasty soul. Will you spend eternity in a burning garbage dump outside of Jerusalem? And by the way, I have no Bubba Truck, don't have the budget for one.

"Where do you plan to keep this cash?" "What's the combination to your safe?" "When is your house most likely to be unoccupied?" "Do you have a home security device? If so, what kind? Large dogs? Firearms or other weapons? What kind?" etc. etc.

Wow. Hope you answered in great detail...

Well hello there Virginia.

Is everything ok? Why are you answering me on this thread instead of the other one? Care to provide a link?

I'm beginning to worry about you. This last post of yours is way out there and borders on being psycotic.

Hey Virginia, you started this, not me.

Get a grip on yourself. You'll be ok, I promise.

Uncle Bob, if by chance you are feeling kind of stupid because it didn't occur to you that maybe these were people trying to find out who would be having a lot of cash in their house come Jan 1, don't feel bad - it didn't occur to me either. It just takes my breath away sometimes how sleezy people can be.

I had one survey that started out asking about laundry detergent and ended up asking how much cash was I planning on having on hand for Jan 1 2000. I told the lady that my ladies garden club was all going together and pull all our savings and checking accounts out of the bank and we are trying to get other ladies groups to go with us but we don't want our husbands to know what we are doing so I have to whisper. The survey lady laughed and said okay. That was quite a long time ago and I haven't heard a thing from anyone.

We are entering a time of preparation. Civil, humanitarian, survival, and CRIMINAL!!! I know all of you people on here are so kind as to border on naive. Please pay attention to your environment, and act accordingly. This is only good advice in the Wally World parking lot at midnight. It may be something you have to learn, if it doesn't come natural.
