greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I was wondering since Auckland, New Zealand will be the first to go through the rollover How do find out how they faired? Is there a website we can go to? Any thoughts or ideas about this would be appreciated.

I will be at work, and on the net in both this forum and Rick Cowles Electric Utilities Forum from 7:00 am on Jan 1st New Zealand time to report just how we are fearing down here in New Zealand. So that should give most of you at least 12 hours notice of any problems that we strike in the power industry here.

TV should be monitoring. They think nothing will happen, and they can make fun of the situation. OK, fair enough. If TEITRAH, we'll have warning. If not, I'll go to the beach for some snorkeling. My tan is fading, anyway.

The chances of seeing anything Y2k noteworthy on Jan 1 from down here are very slim I think...

Malcom,

"how we are fearing down here in New Zealand"

Did you mean to say faring or are you truly "fearing"? Not trying to be picky with your choice of words, just wondering.

I was working with a customer who lives off the grid in Calaveras County, CA, trades via computer and doesn't fear Y2K but does fear a huge downturn is coming in the stockmarket. Thinks some of the high tech stocks are in for a big correction, real estate the same.

I don't expect many people will be able to be on this forum at rollover. It already shuts down/locks me out on a regular basis due to volume.

I'd recommend sat tv, mainstream internet, sw radio, ham radio and maybe reg tv if it starts to look bad.

Mark,

I guess that is a perfect example of a freudian slip showing through. But actuall I don't fear Y2K at all. Though I will be watching what happens with great interest.

Malcolm.
