What ones have impressed me so much, that I have growing folders of entries and pics they've done?

A relatively new journal is Nancy Birnes Perforated Lines. Go vote for her at the Diarist Awards site!

Another 'old time' favorite of my is John Bailey's Journal of A Writing Man.

And, yes, Yours, Al, ranks up there in the top three must check each day sites, too.

And I'd hardly be a proper ego-stuffed writer, if I didn't favor my own words, too! Weighty Matters should win some kind of award, I think. (Well, of course ,I would think that!)

If I am to name one journal that has impressed me, I think I must say I Wasn't Built to Get Up at this Time by (barely) 15 year old Tim Partridge. You get to see him meet parts of life for the first time, and in a fully realized journal. He has switched design a few times, and the latest is among the best I have seen. It must be great to be so awake so young.

yours al . . . . the whole blinking thing....content....framework and reader participation. ----------------------------------------------------- scherzi and sospiri . . . . . sometimes a free for all, but great fun and sometimes some things to very seriously consider. included in that writers portfolio is "clio" - a history type column, and "26", an alphabet of godesses. ----------------------------------------------------- mouth organ . . . . . deals with the subjects a lot of people don't really want to talk about . . . . . but done in a very intelligent way.

The Journal of John Woolman. A Quaker who spearheaded the drive to eliminate slavery in the Religious Society of Friends. This is an amazing testament to the power of perseverence and nonviolent persuasion.

Most of anything resembling a journal that I have seen has been peoples notebooks and scribble pads. These maybe crude forms but I'm sure most good to great journals got their start in this fashion. Some of the neater ones I have seen are not published of course. I have been keeping a notepad for almost 25 yrs and look at the stuff and shake my head--tough to look at your own stuff. Recently I put together a little of that stuff in http://community.webtv.net/JP-Wester/InkandPaper which may not constitute a journal form to most.
