I was reading a piece recently that suggested that Japan would lose about 50% of its current population by the middle of the next century. What are the implications for our trends? In the U.S. we will have a mass retirement of the baby boomers. What implications will that have for large organizations with large investments in legacy systems?

Peter Drucker's last book, I forget the title, discusses the coming "depopulation" of especially first world countries. It's a bigger issue than I realized.
