Hey Folks...

I'm the guy who wrote "The Day Computers Died", and the Edgar Allen Poe "Raven" parody...

I met a lot of nice people in this forum, and was hoping some of you who know html could help me with some problems I am having with my church webpage.

When I try to look at my one of my pages http://www.thechristianchurch.com/chiefland with Netscape Navigator 4.08, instead of showing me the page, it shows me the source... But it shows up ok with Internet Explorer...

I get an error message which tells me "line 11, char 1" syntax error... but for the life of me I can not find anything wrong...

I have had people tell me they cannot access my site... I don't want to tell them to get rid of their Netscape...

Also, the main page, http://www.thechristianchurch.com is viewable with IE but with Netscape I only get the background...

Can anybody help me?

I get to your site fine with my Netscape 4.04....but all that is there is some nice goldish wallpaper background....What Web composer are you using? Or are you just typing HTML?

Hi Duane - Loved your parodies!

I'm not much help. In Internet Explorer both pages look great. But in Netscape Communicator 4.6.1 I get the same results as Donna. The first one, source code only. The second one, the gold background only.

I wish I could tell you why! Good luck.

My guess is that the error is due to the page name ("chiefland") not ending in ".htm" or ".html". Modern browsers probably compensate for this using a little "artificial intelligence", but old ones not.

I just copy and paste other people's html....

I will change it to /chiefland.html and see if that helps...

chiefland.html works great....

Now I just gotta figure out why the MAIN index.html page, thechristianchurch.com, doesnt work with Netscape...

Oh, doh!....I didn't even LOOK at the source. Caramba! Yes, she does have her own multi-doc page,...really she does. It's simple but cute and mine... http://home.pacbell.net/moment Bravo Y2K Gardener!!
