Differences between VCD 1.0, 1.1 & 2.0 ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi to everybody. I would greatly appreciate if someone can unambiguously explain me the difference between the different versions of VCDs, as far as I know, v.1.0, v.1.1, and 2.0 an which one/s can be created with consumer equipment. Thanx!

Well I cant help you with the diffrence between 1.1 & 1.0.

1.1/1.0 - Simple movie, play straight through 2.0 - Menus/stills and all that.

Basically, 1.1/1.0 is just 1 big movie, 2.0 adds menus and what-not to it.

Roxio Easy CD Creator Platnum creates VCD v2.0 format VCD's. My APEX DVD Player nor my VCD Player software that came with my ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro will play v2.0

Both play v1.0 / v1.1 just fine. I have tried single level and multi-menu. The resulting VCD is still v2.0 with this CDR software package.

I'm looking for VCD recording software (or a program that will make an iso file) that will allow the creation of VCD v1.0 / v1.1 email me some links if you know of any.
