Dunescape

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Here's another dunescape from Sossusvlei, Namibia. This shot is taken from the top of a 800' tall dune at the edge of Dead Vlei. Looking North, the dunes in this scene are over 1100 feet tall.

I think I used a polarizer for this shot.

Wonderful Colors. Just wish the ridge in the front could be a little diagonal to increase the dynamics.

It seems to be smiling at me... Really nice colors. I'd be interested in seeing this as a panoramic.

I agree about the panoramic cropping. There is so little detail in the foreground that is looks artificial (in the scan at least), and I'd like to see the bottom 1/3 of the frame cropped off.

Nice. Where does the green tint come from?

Yeah. It would be better as a panoramic. As to the green tint...that's a scanner setting, I'm sure--I had a hard time getting the settings to exactly match the original for this shot. It is pretty close, though...
