Does anybody know a little software to resize .Avi file to 352x240?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I Wanna if somebody can tell me if exists a software to resize .AVI file (originally captured in 320:240) capable to convert it to 352x240 or 352x288 resolution faster than Premiere?

Virtualdub can do it. Type 'virtualdub' in altavista and find the page, I dont know it offhand.

Hi Jose!

Yes premiere is slow in re-rendering.

It sounds as though you have a stand alone encoder that will not resize.

There are encoders that resize during encoding, DVmpeg5 does, so does the Panasonic and the adobe plugin by digigami. They all go direct to the mpeg file with different image quality outputs.

Image quality of the PAL size will be quite poor if you take the 240 lines up to 288. The 320 wide source file only needs to be expanded with the CCIR 601 over square pixel option for NTSC use and that will not entail such a loss in quality.

Alternately I currently use overnight resizing/encoding of files that can take 5 hours to resize and 6-7 hours to encode to vcd format. I only have a 233mmx computer and encoding times are proportional to cpu speed I believe so a 466 would halve the times! Lots of get arounds are possible, these are in addition to Michael's.

Cheers
