Tony Brown's Journal disapears from Oregon Public Broadcasting Lineup

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just checked the new TV guide- expected the story with the FBI informant to be on. Found GED instead. Went to OPB site- TB Journal not scheduled to be on any time in the next month. Can't help but think the timing for changing the programming a little suspicious. Will call OPB on Monday to get the scoop.

In the meantime, all interested Oregonians and Washingtonians should also call and others should check to see if TB Journal is still to be broadcast in their region.

It is supposed to be on today here(Snohomish County, WA) at noon. We'll see if it's on and will report back.

Just got done watching the program. From visiting Tony Brown's web site, I expected something more radical but it wasn't really.

Essentially the government has contingency plans in the event of severe disruptions, the "Mad Max" scenario. In this scenario, they would do what it takes to restore order. This is far different from an automatic declaration of martial law on Jan 1. Perhaps some would think that the government should do nothing in response to a severe situation.

The other main thing that was discussed was the FBI's intelligence operations with infiltrators and paid informants keeping track of different groups.

At the end of the program Tony Brown was urging that people be careful and not overreact.

It was not an overly provocative program, definitely not something designed to cause an uprising -- I don't think that TPTB would be concerned about his message.

Will there be a replay? What time on what day in NW Oregon?
