Adaptec 4

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Well surprise, surprise last night a friend tested his new version and as with 3.5 Adaptec 4 puts the files in the wrong folder and the vcd was unplayable in a dvd player but plays on a computer using PowerPlayer.

Why do we all buy adaptec and how can they take so long to get it right - it should be returned to the manufacturer as faulty, perhaps they would then take some notice?

Nice to have someone so close that is willing to get involved - I cannot comment on NTSC project material as we are PAL.

Cheers

Can I ask if any one out their gets the files placed in the correct folder with 3.5 or 4.

I wonder if the person could reply with details of the frame capture size. This question is related to those who must use avi's and encoders as the basis of making vcd's.

Do those who use snazzi or the equivalent which capture direct to the compliant format have the same trouble?

I'm not sure if this would work, but why not make an image file on your hard drive and manually move the video file into the correct folder and then burn it.

I have tried creating VCD in Adaptec EZ CD creator 3.5c. My observations are as follows ;

1. When I used without wizard, the files goes in wrong folders.

2. When I used with wizard, the files end up in correct folders !!!

Please post your observations.

Same as VCDMan. But here are more: good if the problem would be solved using Wizard. But when I try to include an item which is a still image for a menu page, the whole lot just hangs. And some other things I have detailed somewhere sometime in this forum. Anyway, ver 3.01d is more stable, and 3.5x (and probably 4.0) can't really do harm so long as you do not attempt to create ver 2.0 VCDs (putting menu pages and corresponding sequence 1, sequence 2, etc. items). The only tab with anything in it is the start sequence.

No in our case it has not made any difference, my friend with his new Adaptec 4 tried both and reports no go.
