> SENATE REPORT: US MAKES 'REMARKABLE PROGRESS' AGAINST Y2K PROBLEMS

With 100 days remaining until January 1, 2000, a Senate committee said the United States has made progress in dealing with a potential Y2K computer bug, but computer failures overseas could be another matter. In its last report before the millennium arrives, to be officially released Wednesday, the committee says the country has made "remarkable progress" and that Y2K problems will cause "more inconveniences than tragedies."
