MP10, Dazzle, or Mpegator? Which is better to get?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Which one would be better to get the MP10, Dazzle, or shell out the dough for a MPEGATOR? Also do I need to buy a VCD copying program on top of buying one of these hardware or do they come with the software already? Thanks in advance.

Exactly what do you want to do? What quality are you expecting? MP10, Dazzle, and MPEGator are products that belong to wildly different price categories reflecting the differing features they have and the kind of quality they can output. None is better than the other. What you should get depends on what you want to create.

I have a DAZZLE. Quality is OK but after a long session of digitizing, the audio lags behind the video by quite a bit and very noticable. You need a CD writer progran capable on writing VCD format such as WinOnCD and Adaptec EZ CD Creator DELUXE. You have to have the deluxe version of Adaptec. Stay away from NTI CD Creator. I have one and for some reason the VCD created can't be played on VCD capable DVD.

I am actually using a pinnacle mp10, concerning the price I am satisfied. Concerning the quality that's good but not super good. But I capture without multiplexing because this is not very good yet.

I am also interested in this "benchmarking". I want to capture VHS tapes. The biggest concern is the synchronization (video, audio)problem. The quality is not important in that sense because I believe all products give an acceptable level of quality (my VHS tapes are not perfect anyway). I, currently, use a FlyVideo'98 card but I need something better.

Thanks, george
