Nice macro shot - but the color/composition makes the flower the primary subject. Tough but more DOF would be nice.

Great shot, but I think it could be improved with a crop. By cropping just left of center, the bright red flower would be much less of a distraction.

Greg, I really think this is a very attractive photo. I like the red flower, but its scale does seem to diminish the significance of the bee. The bee is beautiful and very sharp(I like how you captured the wing detail). As I can see you gave good thought to the composition of this photo, and I don't want to suggest how you might crop it, but I would not dismiss a vertical crop to put more focus on the bee. Very worthy photo of a worthy subject! Donna

thank you all for your helpful (and valuable) comments. i didn't really give much thought to a tighter crop because i wanted to make it full frame- this is actually about 95% of the frame. i also like the soft green background a lot- but i can see that a tighter crop makes an entirely different image. thanks for the help. greg
