A good friend spoke to a neighbor who is the Y2K guy for a small municipal electric utility. According to the director, there will be a federally-mandated meeting for all U.S. electric utility managers to discuss current Y2K readiness, contingencies, etc. This will be held for several days around the end of October. Does anyone else here know about this, and what it means?

He was probably refering to the next NERC Conference to be held October 28th and 29th in San Diego. The is not a Federally required conference. It is open to anyone who wants to pay the conference fee. About 300 persons attended the August conference in Chicago of which about 100 were from utility customer organizations. Check the NERC website for a detailed conference schedule.
