Has anyone had problems finding collapsable water containers?

I was just talking to a friend who is very y2k aware. She said she went to our local drug/hardware store looking for collapsable water containers. They were out and told her they couldn't get anymore because of y2k. She received the same answer at the local camping store. Also, she called her firewood supplier to order an extra cord of wood. On his answering machine he said he couldn't take any more orders for wood. He is completely booked. It's the first time she has ever encountered that. These are the first shortages I have heard of. Has anyone else come across any shortage problems?

Are people actually starting to prepare? This actually makes me feel good to hear this, maybe some people are waking up!

One of very few GI colleagues just said that kerosene and related portable heat sources have been nearly impossible to get. Does this mesh with anybody's observations?

Earlier link to the New Hampshire wood-stove shortage, as well as there "...ain't a seasoned cord of wood to be found nowhar!" Things are -ahem- heating up... pardon the pun

No collapsable h2o containers at K-mart, but our local Wal-Mart (Sonoma wine country) has 7gal "aqua-tainer" plastic containers for $6.50. Comes with pour tap. Clerk in sporting goods said they can't keep them on the shelves. They're great, flat sides so they can be set on a counter and used glass by glass. Have not seen any of the 55gal drums anywhere...

Well I must be in DGI Central, because there is plenty of all that stuff where I am in Mass. Need water containers?

They have everything you could ever need for water storage. I got these cool 2 1/2 gal bags with a spout that you can tuck away all over the house. I think they call them water pillows.

I've been told that seasoned wood is hard to find now, but I think it's sporatic 'cause I got a guy who has 400 face cords and the stuff he sells me is seasoned hardwood.

Try Wal Mart for the collapsable water containers, but try them fast - mine in Mo. just got them in last week, had not stocked them before. Surplus store here was out a long time ago.

Try Texaco gas stations for kerosene if you have cans. They are still pumping it here but price going up. Be sure to ask them if it's K1 pure kerosene.

Just spent the weekend driving all over North-Central Minnesota. Saw multiple ads on bulletin boards for cut hardwood firewood, at prices substantially below those near the Twin Cities.

Outdoor world in Santa Cruz, CA county had both 55 gal containers as well as a selection of food grade plastic holders for water. I bought a couple of the collapseable five gallon ones to supplement what I already had.
