Report of Possum Trot's YooHoo.

Today's YooHoo (Possum Trot O.C.'s season opening meet) was fun -- unfortunately the attendance was low. I think there were no more than ten people.

The meet site was the Mill Creek Streamway Trail (the paved biking trails that go north from Shawnee Mission Park). Jane Betros made the map. The map is black-and-white and was printed at 1:5000. Because the park is long and narrow, the course used two different maps ("northern half" and "southern half").

The course was a bit unusual -- the markers were all visible from the trail. But, to make it a bit tougher, the "bags" were only about 3x3 inches. Once you found the marker, you still needed to find the punch. The control card listed a compass bearing that would take you to the punch (within 5 to 100 feet of the marker). For example, my first control was a bend on a small ditch. From the marker, the punch was on a bearing of 64 degrees.

It is a shame that turnout was so low. The course was fun and the map was nice.
