Sony RUVI and the Mac Powerbook G3

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have a Power book G3 (1999 version) and a Sony RUVI digital video/still camera. I'd like to download off of the small hard drive that is part of the camera and use the graphics on my Mac, but I don't want to spendt the $600 that Sony wants to charge for a converter. Any suggestions as to how to download to the computer and what applications to use to be able to edit. I have Photoshop, but not Premier.

We too have a ruvi but have lost the manual. I am more interested in if i need to get any sortware to down load to my imac DV from my ruvi so that i can print out pictures and edit video on my imovie 2 program.

I know that i am not answering your question but asking for help with mine. I am having trouble finding sites tha can help me with my question.

Thank you for any help that you may be able to provide me and my family.

I have loaned my RUVI to my daughter-in-law, so I can't test it, but I think that if I connect the RUVI to my Sony DV cam, I can probably download it as video to iMovie. I've downloaded my DVideo from the Sony and it works well using the firewire, so I hope this will work the same way. iMovie 2 does a good job with both video and stills, and you can add sound to your stills and make a pretty good video out of it or put it on CD. Hope this helps.
